A 510 thread battery is a type of battery commonly used for vaping cartridges and other electronic devices. It can be easily found in most vape shops or online stores. However, some people prefer to make their own 510 thread battery, either to save money or to customize it to their specific needs. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to make a 510 thread battery.
Materials:
- A 510 connector
- A battery holder (preferably with a built-in switch)
- Wire
- Soldering iron and solder
- Heat shrink tubing
- A battery (18650 or 18350)
Step 1: Prepare the 510 connector
Take the 510 connector and remove the plastic insulator from the bottom of the threads. This will expose the metal threads, which you will use to connect the battery later on.
Step 2: Prepare the battery holder
Take the battery holder and remove any excess plastic or protruding pieces so that the bottom is flat. Then, if there is not already a built-in switch on the battery holder, you can add one by soldering wires onto the terminals and connecting them to a momentary switch.
Step 3: Connect the wires
Solder a short piece of wire to the positive terminal of the battery holder. Then, solder another piece of wire to the negative terminal.
Step 4: Connect the battery
Insert the battery into the battery holder, making sure to connect the positive and negative ends to the respective wires.
Step 5: Connect the 510 connector
With the battery connected, you can now connect the 510 connector to the wires. Solder the positive wire to the center pin of the connector, which will connect to the positive terminal of the vape cartridge. Then, solder the negative wire to the outer casing of the connector, which will connect to the negative terminal of the cartridge.
Step 6: Insulate the wires
To prevent any accidental shorts, cover the exposed wires with heat shrink tubing. Heat the tubing carefully with a heat gun or lighter until it shrinks and conforms to the wires.
And that’s it! You now have a functioning 510 thread battery to use with your favorite vape cartridge. Just remember to use caution when working with batteries, and always follow safety guidelines and instructions.
